A Day at the Farm

About a month ago, I was watching a show that features attractions in our local area. A farm was being spotlighted and there were lots of goats and other animals; it brought back memories of when my kids were younger and there was a farm we regularly frequented. Believe it or not, even though my kids are now 12 and 13, they still wanted to go check it out – they can never resist adorable animals!

I had reservations and twice we were rained out. We finally got to go last week (we did get drizzled on but it wasn’t too bad). My mom (nana to the kids) joined us as well. The farm catered to a younger crowd but we still had a great afternoon.

We went through our first ever corn maze and my son went down a giant slide in a potato sack, another first! We spent a lot of time feeding the goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and llamas (I say “we” but it was actually just them, lol). And we roamed around watching the young children having fun climbing a tire pile, pulling a tractor, playing on a giant jungle gym, playing games and more. My kids talked about how much fun they used to have at the farm at that age. My son even climbed the giant tire pile and remarked at how small it seemed now reflecting on how much he has grown. Before leaving, my daughter picked out a small pumpkin for her bedroom.

All in all it was a lovely afternoon spending time together without any pressure to do anything other than enjoy our time together. Sometimes, even when it seems like they might be too old to enjoy an activity, it turns out they aren’t.
